Voice of Mario's Original Audition

In an interview with Game Junkie the voice actor for Nintendo's beloved plumber Mario, reveals the content of his original audition piece for the part.
It's less than compelling, and you wonder who he had to be competing against to get the part. 2 drunks and a stutterer?
I guess it's lucky that Nintendo was looking for the adorable italian zestiness of the voice more than the dialogue!
Here is the snippet of the audition, you can see the full interview at the Game Junkie site.
"Hello, ima Mario. Okey dokey, letsa make a pizza pie together, you go get somea spaghetti, you go geta some sausage, I getta some sauce, you gonna put some spaghetti on the sausage and the sausage on the pizza, then I'm gonna chasea you with the pizza, then you gonna chasea me with the pizza, and gonaa makea lasagne."
That was good enough to land him the starring role in Mario 64.... makes you want to try your luck as a voice actor, doesn't it?
